Communities

The Iona Community: An ecumenical lay community, it's administrative HQ is in Glasgow but it's spiritual heart is on the island of Iona.

Taize: Not Celtic, but a community close to my heart, drawing on the traditions of Catholicism, Protestantism and Orthodoxy, with a mission of reconciliation.

History

The Catholic Encyclopedia contains many pages about monasticism and specific saints. This one is a good starting point.

Allison Carroll's page puts the case for the Celtic Church as a separate entity.

Internet Medieval Sourcebook: this large collection of medieval resources includes a number of Lives of Celtic Saints, including Columba.

Art

Celtic Web Art: An excellent collection of bars, buttons, borders and backgrounds, such as the background and swirls on this page.

Free Image Gallery: Another large collection of useful images, including one of my monk illustrations.

The Specialty Collections (Celtic): This is a good page for starters, with many good links, Rowan's pages being worth a visit for Celtic and other downloadable images (I have used one of her celtic knot bars).

Book of Kells: At Trinity College, Dublin. The inspiration for so much modern celtic art on the web and elsewhere.

Misc

The Isle of Iona and Celtic Connections website is a resource focussed on the Isle of Iona, including links to accommodation on Iona and Mull, holidays/vacations and tours, literature and Celtic connections.

Walsh Brothers jewellers not only offer a variety of celtic cross pendants and other items, but their pages contain links to a number of celtic themed sites.
